I am a self-taught visual artist. My visionhas been my life’s journey.
My first artistic love in life was with words. From the
time I could hold a pencil, I was jotting down poetry
and prose, character vignettes and stories. I have
explored artistic expression in theatre, dance and
photography. Living with an artist mother,
photographer father, and musically inclined sister, I
was taught the importance of creativity, imagination,
and the appreciation of art in various forms at a young
age.
Reading, writing and self expression were a part of my every day life growing up. I
experienced it daily viewing the professional lives of my parents. I observed it when they
took me to museums and spoke freely of their tastes and asked about my own; encouraging
me to see with my own eyes, to feel art and how it moved me personally. I believe this
exposure molded me to become the artist I am today; for I have carried these values in
my heart, always.
Today, I express myself predominately through fractals; an abstract art of infinite shapes
and repeating patterns. Envision a visual impact of science, math and art merging into
something larger than ourselves, yet still as simple as a string of numerical code.
I take my inspiration from the patterns in the world around me. I love creating images
with complex shapes full of tangible textures and rich colors. My creations often echo
some of my favorite themes in fantasy literature, poetry, music and also reflect my
interest in nature, philosophy and spirituality. I think of my art as visual poetry; as
a glimpse into my soul.
